The way Disneyland was set up was meant to trick you into thinking the park and buildings are larger than they actually are. In reality it is just a trick the Disney Imagineers use. As you walk downhill and right onto Main Street you see the building appear to have two stories, but those who are avid visitors to the park know differently. The second level is mostly used for storage or are just empty to create the illusion of taller buildings. The closer you get to Cinderella's Castle the bigger it appears.
Disneyland wants to make its guests feel like they are being transported into a whole different world. The castle is made to seem larger than it actually is along with the shops and the Matterhorn Mountain. On the castle the stones at the bottom are large but get smaller towards the middle and top (Koenig, 42). Same goes for the Matterhorn the trees and shrubs get smaller higher up the mountain but are large on the bottom to force you to think the mountain is larger than it actually appears.
As a means of transportation throughout the park the Disneyland Railroad has convenient stops located at, Main Street, U.S.A, New Orleans Square, Mickey's Toontown, and Tomorrowland and arrives about every 5 minutes. On your journey aboard the train you travel back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the earth. You are able to catch a glimpse of the beginning of the dinosaur time period all the way to their extinction where a volcano has erupted and 2 dinosaurs end up fighting.
Fantasyland and Mickey’s Toontown draw in the younger audiences who aren’t quite tall enough to ride the bigger rides or for those who are just too young and get frightened easier. Walking into Fantasyland is always a very difficult task to complete. There are so many children and their parents that’s its difficult to get through. The popular rides located in Fantasyland are Peter Pan’s flight and Dumbo the Flying Elephant. There are only a few rides located in Toontown; Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin and Gadget’s Go Coaster, which is a small roller coaster. Everything else there is basically a playground and a place to meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse and explore their homes.

Attracting the older visitors are
Frontierland, Tommorowland, and Adventureland.
While Disneyland attracts the younger audience it is also marketed
towards the older visitors as well. With
more high-strung rides such as, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, and Indian
Jones. Many younger kids aren’t at the
appropriate height to be able to ride.
Disney now has the “child swap” where the parents and the older children
can go on a ride like Splash Mountain and leave their young child with a Disney
cast member and then the parents pick up their child after enjoying their
ride. This makes visiting the park much
easier for parents with children of all ages so all can enjoy the park. Surrounding all of these rides are various
souvenir shops, restaurants, cast members selling balloons and light sabers,
the many Disney characters, and the multiple food vendors.
"You're dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway," Walt Disney. Since the opening of California Adventure in 2001, Disney has started to attract a larger age group to the park. They have more of the adult attractions and less of the child attractions. California Adventure is also serves alcohol throughout the park whereas across the way at Disneyland they do not serve any. In 2012 Disney opened a new land, Cars Land based on the Disney movie Cars. Since the opening of this land California Adventure has grown increasingly more crowded and popular.

As Walt Disney has said "Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” Everyday at Disneyland something knew is either being built or is closed for refurbishment. No matter the day a ride is always being worked on or the ride has temporarily been broken down due to maintenance errors. If a ride breaks down causing you to be stuck in your seat, that ride offers a fast pass to return to the ride you were stuck on once the problem has been solved. Since Disney recently purchased Star Wars there has been talk of adding a Stars Wars land in the growing California Adventure park. With the possibility of this new park, Disney is sure to attract thousands of more park goers.
